Austin Bungalow

This adorable cottage is located in the heart of Zilker, one of the desirable neighborhoods to visit in Austin. This home was purchased as a short term vacation rental. The homeowner came to us to select furnishings and decor for the house, design the garage/ game room and the private outdoor space. 

The most challenging part of this project was the size of the house, which is barely 500 sq ft.  As a short term rental, it was crucial for revenue that the home be able to comfortably accommodate at least 4 guests.  It took some playing around with the floor plan but eventually we were able to configure a queen bed in the bedroom and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. We removed the original doors from the entry to the kitchen and bedroom. We left the kitchen opening clear and replaced the bedroom door with a sliding barn door which allowed us the space  needed for the sleeper sofa when set up as a bed. 

Since the home was to be used largely for tourists, we focused the design+decor around a fun, bold, color palette, and southwestern vibes, with local art throughout.
